Thomas Jefferson wrote on June 22, 1822:

"I rejoice that in this blessed country of free inquiry and belief, which has surrendered its conscience to neither kings nor priests, the genuine doctrine of one God is reviving and I trust that there is not a young man now living in the United States who will not die a Unitarian."

Monticello -- The mansion designed by Thomas Jefferson was built by Jefferson's artisan slaves. This was his home for 56 years. Monticello is located near Charlottsville, Virginia.

Jefferson wrote in April 1803

"To the corruptions of Christianity I am, indeed, opposed, but not the genuine precepts of Jesus himself."

Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. He served two consecutive terms from 1801 to 1809.
