German Romance

The Quincy Unitarian Church will host the Quincy Sunday Music Series at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 29 as part of the church's continuing series of Candlelight Dinners & Concerts. This concert will feature the music of Brahms and Robert Schumann.

Carol Fisher Mathieson will sing a Schumann song cycle about a woman's life and love. Her colleague, Trent Hollinger, will play several Schumann oboe Romances in transcription for the soprano saxophone. Dr. Elliot Jones, choral director at Culver, will accompany him on piano. Dr. Christine Damm will play the Brahms E-flat clarinet sonata, accompanied by Leonora Suppan-Gehrich. Leonora and Carol have been doing the Sunday Music Series together for about 35 years and enjoy bringing friends to perform music. It should be a very pleasant afternoon of Romantic German music.

At 6:00 p.m., The Unitarian Church will host another in the series of Candlelight Dinners. The Germanic menu will continue the romantic musical themes of the concert.
